IDEOLOGY PRESS
Website Self-initated 2017Can bookworks exist solely in virtual space? Partially based on the fact that we have yet to publish a physical book, this seeks to instead create “a space for potential publishing”. The visual language of the site is an attempt at reflecting the multi-faceted and highly ideological nature of publishing – of making public. IDEOLOGY PRESS is a propositional publishing project that aims to create discourse around the post-digital publishing landscape. The typeface IDEOLOGY was developed for the project, a response to the myth that Helvetica has very few idiosyncrasies and is therefore somehow thought to be neutral. With the understanding that nothing is really neutral, or outside the realm of ideology, the aim for the typeface was to heighten the contradictions and idiosyncrasies of Helvetica, within the historical context of modernism, and the consumer-capitalist condition it has come to represent.
